Therefore, cost management on the premise of safety, economy, applicability, energy saving of affordable housing is the research direction of this topic.The article learns the cost management experience from America, British and Japan and analyzs the relative concept of construction engineering.On the basis of the difference between affordable housing and ordinary housing, the construction characteristics of its various stages is refined, The new ideas about the whole process of cost management are put forward innovatively. It is necessary to complete the whole process of cost management for affordable residential area on the stage of investment and decision-making, design, construction bidding, construction and completion and settlement audit. Take a low-income residential area in Erqi district of Zhengzhou for an example, the paper analyzes the achievement of cost management and problems that exist in the government and the construction unit, which has important practical significance to reduce the cost of affordable housing.
