The early saturation line monitoring mainly rely on the professional and technical personnel regularly to do manual measurement and records for the data analysis on the reservoir dam, which makes larger human cost, longer measurement time intervals, and can’t do real-time monitor of the stability of the dam. With the rapid development of information and communication technology, and the improved industrial automation, the intelligent monitoring system design becomes more convenient. With the increasing promotion of Zigbee protocol, GSM network, Modbus fieldbus protocol and industrial Ethernet, the stability, accuracy and timeliness of the intelligent monitoring system has been improved. The intelligent reservoir saturation line monitoring system will eventually replace the manual measurement work.According to the actual project demand, this paper achieves the data transmission of saturation line through the modular design. The system realizes data communication between the PLC and remote data acquisition module via the Zigbee protocol and GSM networks, and implements data communication between PLC and host computer via industrial Ethernet. The system uses modular design idea, and the whole system consists of three subsystems, they are:1, The subsystem using Ethernet communication to connect the host computer to the S7-200PLC.2, The subsystem using Zigbee transparent data transmission to combine the S7-200PLC with the visual distance and Modbus communication data acquisition module.3, The subsystem using GSM network communication to link the S7-200and outside visual distance data transmission. In order to improve the stability and accuracy of the system, the system mostly uses industrial grade modules as its hardware. The system selects the Tianqi TY-ZE06SZ/IO-ZK data transmission equipment as the carrier of Zigbee protocol, and uses Huawei GTM900-C as the GSM module, and chooses the self-developed single chip microcomputer module which uses the STC12C5616AD control core as the remote terminal data acquisition module. The control core S7-200PLC of the system has only two communication ports POTTO and PORT1, PORTO for GTM900-C serial communication control, PORT1for reading Modbus communication monitoring data. Since the port number isn’t enough, so the S7-200PLC adds Ethernet expansion module CP243-1and the host computer forcecontrol configuration software to realize the industrial Ethernet communication. Through the described modular design and coordination of communication technology, the system can collect data stably and accurately. After data transmit to the S7-200PLC, the system uses algorithm design to extract, storage and simply analyse the effective transmission data, which realized preliminary judgment of the stability of the saturation line. The host computer uses Ethernet communication and the procedures written by forcecontrol6.1configuration software to read the valid data from S7-200PLC then put them into itself. The system figures out the actual saturation line by using curve fitting technology, and then gives the conclusion by compared it with the design saturation line.This paper bases on the system’s stability, reliability, practicality, accuracy and intelligent design, via the selection of hardware and algorithm designed procedures, focuses on the coordination between the communication modules, finally lays the foundation of unattended dam saturation line monitoring.
