Xinjiang is a multi-ethnic and multi-religious region down through the ages, where the ethnicissues are more complicated. Xinjiang was unified by the Qing Dynasty in1759.After that, a trainof ethnic and religious polices which fitted the social background of Xinjiang were formulated bythe Qing Dynasty for maintaining the social stability and consolidating its domination."Regulation for Uygur Xinjiang" is an ethnic laws and regulations, with a strong ethnic colorand geographical characteristics, drafted by the Qing Dynasty in order to restrain Xinjiang regioneffectively. It covers the aspects of administration, military and religious affairs, economy andtrade and so forth."Regulation for Uygur Xinjiang"started to complie in1811, and it finished in1814, finally it turned into a book in1815."Regulation for Uygur Xinjiang" includes8volumes,totally134items which contains26the originals,65the modifications,38sequel and5newlyincreased.It take the "Regulation for Uygur Xinjiang" as the central task in this paper, and the ethnicand religious polices of Xinjiang region during the age of the Qing Dynasty in18th-19th centuryhas been analysised systematically in fix chapters. In the first chapter, Basic overview of the QingDynasty in Xinjiang.The second chapter is an overview of the "Regulation for Uygur Xinjiang".Systematically research in the third chapter, the Xinjiang ethnic policy system is discussed in threeaspects--the ethnic relations, administrative, and the social life. The religious polices of the QingDynasty will be introduced in the forth chapter. The "Regulation for Uygur Xinjiang" was writtendirectly in the background of the religious culture of Xinjiang, and the main introduction wouldbe the religious polices to the Islam. At the end of this paper, it summarize the characteristic of theethnic and religious polices in the age of Qing Dynasty and expounds the revelation. It not onlyabstracts the beneficial contents to the current society in dealing with the ethnic issues, but alsoreflects the currently existent issues, aiming to remind the government avoiding the wrong choiceeffectively handling with the frontier policy, and promote the China’s ethnic and religious policesmore complete.
