The Process of "I":An Exploration into the Intertwined Relationship between Identity and Environment, a great work on life philosophy by Emily Maroutian, an American philosopher and writer, aims at guiding the reader to view the relationship between identity and environment from an completely new perspective, and inspire him to explore his inner self and steadily work toward constant self-improvement.Based on her endeavor in the translating of the first six sections of the original, the present author discusses some subtle problems she encountered and makes tentative studies on how to solve them, adopting Jef Verschueren’s illuminating conception of dynamics of adaptability expatiated in his adaptation theory.Having studied some typical examples, the present author proposes the application of strategies valuable in translating such an aphoristic work, amplification in particular, and summarizes the gains and deficiencies in the application of these strategies.
