| Psycholinguistics,as an important part of cognitive science,is an interdisciplinary subject that intersects with linguistics, psychology, computational linguistics and neuroscience.Psycholinguistics has experienced a long course of development and gradually matured. The research focuses on three aspects:language understanding;Production of language;Children’s language acquisition. The translation material chosen in this report is excerpted from chapter eight of the book Psycholinguistics, which devoted to showing the process and characteristics of children’s language acquisition, and describing that children can acquire thousands of words, complex grammatical and phonological systems at the age of three to four years old without specific language training. It embodies the characteristics of children’s language acquisition, which can provide reference for children’s second language acquisition. The translation material belongs to academic text, there are many terms, long sentences and passive sentences. The source text involves some experimental studies, and the language structure is characterized by rigorous and logicality. This report takes adaptation theory as the theoretical framework, and combines three dimensions of adaptation theory to instruct the translation at lexical level, syntactic level and discourse level.Among them, contextual correlates of adaptability and dynamics of adaptability can deal with the translation of vocabulary and discourse, the translation at syntactic level can be conducted by the structural objects of adaptability.Different translation methods are selected according to different linguistic phenomena to achieve the adaptation of language, such as omission, amplification, division and linear translation.Through this translation practice, the translator has draw the following conclusions:for the translation with academic background, the translator should have the relevant knowledge background of children’s language acquisition, and use parallel texts and relevant academic dictionaries to formulate glossary.Only by adapting to the context and psychological activities between researchers of children’s language acquisition and target readers, and choosing different translation methods according to different context and sentence structure, can the translator restore the source text to the greatest extent. Then it can arouse the same feelings of target readers and source readers; The source text involves experimental studies on children’s language acquisition, the language is rigorous and objective. While accurately conveying information,it is necessary to rearrange the information structure according to different communicative purposes and occasions,so as to present the professionalism of the translation. |
