Entering the21st century, Chinese documentary was in a difficulty of marketization. Jin Tiemu, who has the background of Film Studies, made a series of efforts and attempts to change this situation. By combining the model of feature film with historical documentary successfully, he not only realized profits in market, but also created a new type besides official documentaries and independent documentaries:commercial documentary, which should be the mainstream of market. Jin Tiemu’s documentaries, such like "An Army Reborn","Xuan Zang Road"," The Old Summer Palace" and other documentaries have received terrific audience’s feedback. His works use the digital special effects shots and other techniques, which can truly restored historical scenes, bring the extremely realistic picture of history to the audience. This is no doubt a stimulating visual experience to viewers, bringing rich aesthetic pleasure. Besides, the author also gives the author’s personal interpretation to his documentaries, and adds personal reflection on the history, this makes the film at the same time both with art and knowledge. Nowadays, in the Chinese contemporary documentary field, Jin Tiemu by virtue of his historical culture documentary’s representative characteristics of creation, owning an irreplaceable position in the film market.Taking Jin Tiemu’s documentary of the history and culture as the research object, through the collation and study on its works.summing up the writing style of the director and cultural connotation and, his works’business model.we can get a paradigm suitable to Chinese condition, which contains all links, such as financing, scheme, production, distribution and marketing.
