In this paper, it’s researched on ewer molding from Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynastyby using philology, iconography and archeology etc as methods, and mainly researchedon the aspects of the classification of ceramics ewer in every period from Tang to QingDynasty, the evolution of the overall molding style, evolution of local molding, andfactors that influences the evolution. It aims to comprehensively reveal the variousevolution process and rules from Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty. Firstly, it makes anexhaustive classification of ceramic ewer on molding and shape in different periods,summarizes the general molding features of ceramic ewer in different periods as plumpand burly in Tang, perky and straight in Song, dull and immature in Yuan, delicate andelegant in Ming and Qing. Secondly, it analyses and researches the ceramic ewer moldingdevelopment from the mouth, stream and abdomen etc, and indicates the factors whichinfluence the changes. It studies that the rule of development from multiple use toexclusive use, and gradually to practical use on ceramic ewer’s molding and function andthe rule of evolution gradually to beauty by studying the overall and part shape. Thespecialized research on ceramic ewer from Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty can give acomprehensive understanding of the overall development and evolution of ceramic ewer,and is meaningful to enrich ceramic molding. Besides, this research will help getenlightenment from the old, provide designers some advice on design methods anddirection in domestic ceramic, and also get inspiration on modern tableware evenhousehold ceramic design.
