Translation on tourist texts is a process of cross-cultural communication and re-creation, which especially focuses on the spread of cultural information. The differences between eastern and western culture lead to different thinking modes of people from the two groups. Therefore, in the process of translation, cultural backgrounds, historical origins and national customs of original texts should be carefully studied. This thesis studies the Chinese translation methods of introduction to foreign tourist attractions on the basis of Readers’Response Theory. The first part is a brief introduction to the Reader’s Response Theory, and its guiding significance for translation is analyzed. Introduction of foreign tourist attractions is practical writing, which aims to overcome language and cultural barriers, and convey tourism culture of foreign tourist attractions to the Chinese public. Thus, translation works should be created from the view of readers. In the second part, problems in current tourism translation are analyzed from the aspects of deficiency of cultural information, expression redundancy and inappropriate use of expressions. And amplification, reduction and adaption are proposed as three major translation methods for tourism translation in the last part.
