| The text selected for this translation practice report is ISO 26262-6:2018(E)Road vehicles— Functional safety.It is a national standard text.And it was issued by the organization-the International Organization for Standardization(abbreviated as ISO).The translator has carried out the process of analyzing and writing,which is based on Part 6: Product development at the software level.The purpose of this text is to ensure the safety in the whole life cycle of the road vehicles,achieve the functional safety of the whole vehicle system design,and improve the quality and safety of products through operating the software and hardware.Therefore,the translator’s choice of this text as an analytical text has extremely important practical significance.In response to the difficulties encountered during the translation process of Part VI of this standard,the translator took advantage of the comprehension,expression,and adaptation translation framework that proposed by Professor Li Changshuan in 2020 to help analyze these difficulties encountered in the translation process,with the help of a variety of translation theories and methods,which includes Catford’s translation transformation theory,amplification,omission,conversion and inversion.In the stage of comprehension,it paid more attention to the comprehension to the professional knowledge and the language expression involved in the source text,in which the translator mastered the content and some language details of the source text,helping to achieve the bilingual conversion of the translated text.In the stage of expression,it mainly explained accurately translating the professional terms,simplified the long and complex sentences,and enhanced the coherence of the language in whole source text.Finally,the translated text will achieve an effect,in which the translated text conforms to the reading habits of the target readers and efficiently conveys the meaning of the source text.In the stage of adaptation,there were two common means.Amplification and omission were used in this translation report.In this translation practice,the translator mainly took advantage of these two methods to add or delete some information flexibly in the source or translated text.And some typical syntactic structures in Chinese were supplemented to avoid the loss of information in the source text caused by the literal translation,which makes the translated text more complete in structure,smoother in content,and much easier to be accepted by the target readers without changing the meaning of the source text.Finally,the translated text achieved complete information communication and efficient cultural exchange.This translation practice report points out the uniqueness of the scientific and technological information text,which includes the complex sentence structures,rich technical terms and broad text background.And it discusses the translation methods applicable to the specific text,emphasizes the importance of the text,and also introduces the necessity of this translation practice,This translation practice not only improved the translator’s translation ability,but also clarified her shortcomings in translation. |
