Imperfection anxiety, which refers to the negative feeling perfectionistsexperience in the process of the pursuit for perfection, is the core concept ofperfectionism. Pursuing for perfection is individuals’ innate motivation, which can bereflected in children’s need of the completeness and order during certain sensitiveperiods. Children’s anxiety in respond to the imperfection is influenced by factorsconcerning the caregivers.Pervious researches have proved that parenting has always been in closerelationship with the formation and development of the dependents’ perfectionism, andthat caregivers’ personality tendency has an influence on dependents’ personality toothrough gene and environment.In this study, the Chinese parenting questionnaire was revised into the selfassessment questionnaire and scale study was conducted on the basis of this.151caregivers and their children(ages range from14months to56months) were surveyedto explore the relationship between children’s imperfection anxiety and parenting,children’s imperfection anxiety and caregivers’ personality tendency throughcorrelation analysis. And the improvement advice for the questionnaire of ImperfectionAnxiety of Children was presented according to the additional information. The mainresults are as follows:1.The revised self assessment questionnaire on parenting has good psychometricindexes such reliability and validity, and is suitable for caregivers assessing parentingon themselves. The revised questionnaire with14items consists of three factors,respectively named as Emotional Warmth, Rejection and Over Protection.2.There is almost no correlation between the imperfection anxiety of childrenaging from14to56months and the caregivers’ parenting.3.There is significant positive correlation between caregivers’ imperfectionanxiety and children’s imperfection anxiety and anxiety for incompleteness. There isweak correlation between caregivers’ imperfection anxiety and children’s emulation.There is almost no correlation between caregivers’ imperfection anxiety and children’sneed for tidy and order, and children’s sensitiveness.4. There is positive correlation between caregivers’ Narcissistic personality and children’s imperfection anxiety and anxiety for incompleteness. There is weakcorrelation between caregivers’ Dependent personality and children’s imperfectionanxiety and anxiety for incompleteness. There is positive correlation betweencaregivers’ Compulsive personality and children’s imperfection anxiety. And thepositive correlations between caregivers’ Compulsive personality,Narcissistic personality and children’s emulation is weak. There is almost nocorrelation between other matching dimensions.5. According to the additional information, children’s asking for repairingincomplete articles, which is also the performance of pursuing for completeness, is notpresented in the questionnaire. This implicates that the questionnaire needs to beimproved to gain accuracy on the assessment of children’s imperfection anxiety.
