This translation material is an excerpt of the eighth chapter of The Social Origins of Witchcraft, which is written by the famous American scholars, Paul Boyer and Stephen Nissenbaum. For it is a social science article, the language style of this article is very difficult, mainly in its professional vocabulary, complicated sentences, and its grammar. Therefore, during the translation, the translator should use the skills and methods of the translation flexibly. In this report, the translator cites many examples to show the translation skills and the methods that she used in her translation, including word conversion, cutting and converting, interpreting and so on. What’s more, the translator also shows some difficulties that she have met when she translated this article.
