Since the financial crisis took place in the world, the only unaffected but thrivingfield in the collection world is the contemporary ceramics, which has just been excavatedby the auction market in recent years. Some people even say that the contemporaryChinese ceramic artwork will become a major component of the world-renownedChinese art. Being a category of the artwork and due to its special properties, pricing theceramic artwork is quite complicated. This paper attempts to provide a method on settingthe price of contemporary ceramic artwork.The paper consists of three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. The introductionmainly relates to the research background, purpose, significance of the topic and themain research methods and ideas of the paper. The text has four chapters and can bedivided into three parts as follows: The first part is the second chapter, mainly elaboratesthe overseas and domestic research status from three aspects: the artwork market, generalartwork’s pricing and ceramic artwork’s pricing.The second part is the third and fourthchapter, the theoretical foundation of the paper. The third chapter firstly expounds theartwork’s value and its components, then raises the factors affecting the artwork’s price,including the factors of supply, demand, middlemen and environment, foreshadowing thevalue structure of ceramic artwork expressed in the fourth chapter. The fourth chapter isdivided into two sections, the first section is the introduction of ceramic artwork and itsclassification; the second section discusses the composition of ceramic artwork’s value,this paper mainly estimates its value from two aspects: the artistic and economic value ofthe ceramic artwork.The third part is the fifth chapter, the core part of this paper. The first sectionelaborates the current pricing methods of ceramic artwork, including general ceramicartwork’s pricing method and the artist’s; the second section firstly introduces the ceramicartwork’s pricing process proposed in this paper, then to find out the ceramic artwork’spricing method selected by this paper through comparison, i.e. using market method tocalculate the basis price of the ceramic artwork and using expert scoring method todetermine the correction coefficient the ceramic artwork’s artistic value to its price,resulting in ceramic artwork’s price=basis price correction coefficient. The conclusionsummarizes the paper’s research results and brings up the innovations of this paper.
