Quantifier is a unique part of speech in the Chinese-Tibetan law system. There are noindependent quantifiers into class in the part of speech of Indo-European grammar system.Therefore, learning Chinese quantifiers is undoubtedly to be one of the difficulties for foreignstudents whose mother tongue is English. Although there is no quantifiers in English, butthere is a partitive construction. Chinese and English quantification have its owncharacteristics in structure, grammatical category, color meaning and the use of the function.So far, there are plenty of books and literature for Chinese and English quantificationcomparison and analysis, however, with the combination of teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage study is very few.This article is trying to draw lessons from the basis of predecessors’ research results, guidedby the contrast analysis theory, for analyzing Chinese-English name quantifier features andfunctions, etc. At the same time, this article summarized errors when foreign students learningChinese name of quantifiers. Finally, this paper is going to give some teaching strategiescombined with the author’s own experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language forquantifier teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Hope for supporting the future of thequantifier Chinese-English contrast analysis and the teaching for foreign students whosemother tongue is English.This thesis is divided into six chapters:Chapter1. Literature review. First introduced the research status of Chinese quantifiers,English research status as well as Chinese-English quantification comparison research presentsituation and summarise the predecessors’ research and find out the insufficient in order toclarify the purpose and significance of this article topic. The last of this chapter introduces thetheory basis and research methods of this article.Chapter2. Classification comparison of Chinese-English quantifier. This chapter is dividedinto three sections and discussed the classification of Chinese quantifiers, English name ofclassification and Chinese-English quantification classified contrast.Chapter3. Chinese-English quantifiers contrast in formation. This chapter studies theChinese-English name similarities and differences of classification and quantifier used format.Chapter4. Chinese-English name quantifier rhetorical function contrast. This chapter discusses the Chinese-English quantifier metaphor, hyperbole, move on, synaesthesia andother rhetorical functions.Chapter5. Corresponding and translation of Chinese-English quantification. With a largenumber of examples, this chapter made a translation in individual, collective quantification,weights and measures in English quantifiers and indefinite quantifiers.Chapter6. Teaching suggestions for native speakers of foreign students in the name of thequantifiers. This chapter firstly is on the basis of predecessors’ bias analysis summarizes theerrors made by foreign students use of quantifiers common types, including the generalizationof the loss, misuse and quantification of quantifier. Then proposed according to the secondlanguage learners native language is English as a foreign language teaching strategies andsome quantifiers in the name of the Chinese as a foreign language textbook compilation.
