This practice report is on the consecutive interpreting conducted by the writer atthe Australia-China ICT Conference2013. It mainly discusses the interpreting taskdescription, implementation of the project, and gains from the practice. Theemergencies and the approaches adopted by the writer are the focus of the discussion.In implementation of the project, the writer mainly discusses the pre-interpretingpreparation, which is divided into three aspects:(1) professional knowledge;(2) termremembrance; and (3) emergency plans.In case study, the writer discusses some flexible approaches adopted by thewriter to the emergencies which happened in the interpreting:(1) emergencies causedby the writer himself;(2) emergencies caused by time pressure; and (3) emergenciescaused by the speakers.At the Australia-China ICT Conference, much of the writer’s interpreting wastechnical. Besides collecting all kinds of professional information through variouschannels, the writer had to solve all the emergencies she encountered in the process ofinterpreting. So a flexible capacity plays a very significant role in keeping interpretinggoing and making up for any deficiency.
