Purpose:To explore the mental health of the left-behind children; To research left-behindchildren, the mutual relationships between their personality and psychological health:the effects on the psychological health, hoping to provide the theoretical basis andsupport for the development of left-behind mental health education. Methods:By means of stratified sampling survey of the current group, the author choosesobjectives among the middle school students from Cangzhou cities in Hebei Province.A total of500questionnaires (the effective questionnaire was398) are distributed foranonymous survey. Survey tools include:(1) the self-made questionnaire about thegeneral information;(2) the mental health diagnostic tests (MHT);(3) Eysenck’spersonality questionnaire children’s edition (EPQ-C). Apply SPSS19.0software to dodescriptive, T test, the single factor analysis of variance, related analysis and stepwisemultiple regression analysis.Results:1. About differences in different ages, the neurotic factors to cope with left-behindchildren score differently with statistic meaning. After comparison in thepsychoticism scores, Grade3scores are the highest.2. The non-left-behind children’s externally negative trend score and psychoticismscore are higher than that of left-behind children, with the difference statisticallysignificant.3. The non-left-behind children’s coefficient score is higher than that of left-behindchildren’s between neurotic quality and the total MHT score, with the differencestatistically significant.4. For non-left-behind children and children left-behind, in the three dimensions ofpersonality traits, mental health as the dependent variable in order to establish thedimensions of personality regression equation as independent variables into the regression equation is neuroticism. Regression coefficients of the non-left-behindchildren were significantly higher than the regression coefficient children left behind. For non-left-behind children, neuroticism predicts mental health is more significant. The higher neuroticism, the more unstable his emotions. Such people tend to anxiety, tension, and irritability. His response to various stimuli is more intense, resulting inirrational behavior, likely to suffer from various physical and mental disorders, affectmental health. Therefore, the higher the scores on neuroticism, the more will affectthe mental health of the individual.Conclusion:1. Rural left-behind children and non-left-behind children in externally negative trendscore and psychoticism to the significant difference between the two personality traits, indicating stay experience may affect the development of children’s personality, butmental health between the two is not obvious difference, indicating stay the impact onthe mental health experience is complex uncertain.2. Different dimensions of personality traits associated with mental health is different, nervousness and mental health related to the most significant. Non-left-behindchildren and their neurotic personality traits related to mental health to besignificantly higher than the correlation between the two children left behind.
