| This paper focuses on the themes and styles of the "Kongfu Panda" and "Rabbit ManLegend" which were produced in recent years by two important producers and consumers ofanimation, China and America. The main research point is based on the twocountries’animation creation concepts. It analyzes the two works deeply and specifically inorder to state the important role that creation concept plays in animation works.Due to the reality of current cultural competition, communication, fusion andcoexistence between China and western countries, the western world is shifting its attention tocultural forms from the east. In the21st century, the east and west are trying to find a newway of fusing their own cultural connotations and means of expression. In1998, the UnitedStates created the cartoon "Hua Mulan" by using Chinese background and cultural elementsfor the first time.(More than) Ten years later, in2011, the United States produced "KongfuPanda,” another work rich with Chinese cultural style, which presented Chinese animatorswith challenges.The paper’s focus is on the differences in creation concepts between the twocountries, divided into four parts. The first part is mainly focused on defining creatingconcepts and the relationship they have to the theme of the creation. The second part is on theanalysis of the two films, in order to deeply analyze the concept of their works. The third partis the key to the paper: use the differences between the two films to analyze the un-identicalcharacteristics of the creation processes in the two countries. The fourth part mainly dealswith the historical and political factors, nationalization and the influence of social concepts tostate the reason(s) for the different creation concepts of the two countries. The vast differencebetween the creation concepts of the two countries directly reflects their different cultural andhistorical backgrounds and values, so that can reflect the current Chinese animation status. |
