Savickas (2005) defined "career adaptability" as an individual’ s ability to keepbalance with the unpredictable tasks,job roles and job changes or working situationunpredictable changes. First of all, this study summarizes the conceptual connotation,theoretical construction and empirical studies of career adaptability. And then, thestudy has conducted a quite comprehensive and systematic exploration research aboutthe colleges students’ career adaptability. Specifically, the essay uses a questionnaireto examine the level of development and characteristics of college students’ careeradaptability in our country. Then combining cognitive processing theory, the essayexplores career-related events information processing bias of different careeradaptability level’s students.This study do some research related to the characteristics and factors of careeradaptability of college students as well as the characteristics of social cognitiveprocessing. Through these studies, main conclusions are as follow:1. The Chinese college students’ Career adaptability Development level is a littlehigher than the middle level.2. The level of students’ career adaptability is deeply affected by the gender, gradeand family background. At gender, the male get higher scores than the female. Atgrade, grade2and4have the high level and grade1and3has the low level, just likethe shape of N. At the parents’ educational level, it makes a significant differencebetween different levels. While their parents have the higher level their children havethe higher scores.3. There is a corresponding preference to the attention and recognition of careerinformation between different adaptability level students. The result is the ones whogets a low score in the test has more negative processing bias. Different levels ofcareer adaptability affect individual’s cognitive processing preference ofcorresponding career information.
