Cheng Min-zheng,whose style name is Ke-qin,is the son of Xin.His birthplace is Huang Dun of Xiu Ning.We can know his life detailedly by reading The Goverment Records of Hui Zhou which was compiled durling Hong Zhi period and The History of Ming.His life has two import time node.The first one is the second year of Cheng Hua period(1466),when Cheng Min-zheng became a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations.The second is the first year of Hong Zhi period(1488),when Cheng Min-zheng was dismissed from the goverment.Cheng Min-zheng begined his writting of a large number of epitaphs and biographies at the first time node.And at the second time node, he changed the identity of people who he writed epitaphs and biographies for.Only if you know the two time node clearly,can you grasp the overall structure of his writting. Cheng Min-zheng paid a lot of attention to epitaphs and biographies.He wrote epitaphs and biographies not only for money,but also for his faith on Neo-Confucianism of Cheng-Zhu.In traditional china,people preferred to invite famous people to write epitaphs and biographies,then they can let their family members be famous and admired too.Cheng Min-zheng take this sense as a reflection of lineage conception. And because Cheng Min-zheng was born in Hui Zhou,he wrote a lot of epitaphs and biographies about people who also comes from Hui Zhou.This is a very interesting part that researchers can force on.Through the study of the Hui Zhou people in Cheng Min-zheng’s writings,we can get more details about Hui Zhou’s culture and social life.Cheng Min-zheng is a greatest writer and philologist,so his epitaphs and biographies have more cultural value and literature value.Criticism and inheritance of Neo-Confucianism of Cheng-Zhu,different attitude of different identities,women live in early Ming Dynasty,the influence of Cheng Min-zheng’ epitaphs and biographies......there are so many topics can be chosen to study.This thesis forces on the study of Huang Dun Cheng Xian Sheng Wen Ji which is written by Cheng Min-zheng.Through perusing the text carefully,I used the means called quantitative analysis to reveal Cheng Min-zheng’s attitude and writing methods of epitaphs and biographies.This thesis has seven parts.The first part is introduction.In this part,I introduce Cheng Min-zheng’s life and what is epitaphs and biographies means simplely.And I summarize some already existing thesis including both thesis about Cheng Min-zheng and thesis about epitaphs and biographies.The second part is review of Cheng Min-zheng’s epitaphs and biographies.I try to find someting special through the classification of literary form,the classification of sexuality and the classification of someone who is an official or not.And I sort Cheng Min-zheng’s epitaphs and biographies by the time order when he wrote. So I can compare his life to his writtings,then conclude the feature of Cheng Min-zheng’s epitaphs and biographies,the effect of epitaphs and biographies in Cheng Min-zheng’s view and the skill of how to write perfect epitaphs and biographies.The third part is the edition and spread of Cheng Min-zheng’s epitaphs and biographies.I compared Huang Dun Cheng Xian Sheng Wen Ji which was published in Ming Dynasty with Huang Dun Wen Ji which was included in Complete Library in the Four Branches of Literature. Then I concluded the different of words and paragraphs and chapters to indicate the revise and corruption with the passage of time.I also find some books that quoted some pieces of writings in Huang Dun Cheng Xian Sheng Wen Ji.The. behavior of quoting shows the influence of Cheng Min-zheng’s epitaphs and biographies.The forth part is the literature value of Cheng Min-zheng’s epitaphs and biographies.In this part,I discourse how Cheng Min-zheng’s epitaphs and biographies kept Biographees’s life and writings,and how Cheng Min-zheng’s epitaphs and biographies show the social scene of Cheng Hua ang Hong Zhi period in Ming Dynasty.The fifth part is the cultural value of Cheng Min-zheng’s epitaphs and biographies.In this part,I talk about the narrative art of Cheng Min-zheng’s epitaphs and biographies,the skills of Cheng Min-zheng’s inscription and his appreciate of the Confucianists ideal personality.The sixth part is the brief summary.In this part,the paper is summarized and prospected.The seventh part is appendix. This part include one form of Cheng Min-zheng’s epitaphs and biographies sorted by the time order when he wrote.Purpose of this paper is to understand Cheng Min-zheng’s thought deeply and know more about how Cheng Hua and Hong Zhi period of Ming Dynasty look like.Through these aspects, we can comprehend the cultural value and literature value of Cheng Min-zheng’s epitaphs and biographies better.Through the above research, on the one hand I will be able to fill in the gaps of study on Cheng Min-zheng’s epitaphs and biographies, on the other hand we can glimpse changes about Ming Dynasty’s social and economic.
