As a postgraduate majoring in MTI, the author has to do a certain amount of field work to complete her course task at school. The report is produced on the basis of the translation internship done by the author in Hunan Provincial Museum during the summer holiday of2012. The author tries to apply translation theories at home and abroad into her practice, which are combined with what she analyzes, thinks about and summarizes the problems and her shortcomings during the translation process. She hopes to instruct her future translation practice and improve her translation ability as well. The content of this translation task is the translation of English museum management policy and collection policy, which lasts for two months. At the same time, the author hopes that the translation of English museum documents into Chinese will help us to improve the management of our own museums and collections.Specifically, the thesis can be divided into five parts. The introduction part talks about the research purpose, research problem and the structure of the report. The body includes three parts. Chapter1describes the translation task and process, including the background information of the translation task, the requirement of the client, the specifications of the translation, preparations before translation, the translation process, and the arrangements after translation, which provides the background information for the whole report. It introduces the specific process of the translation, including the detailed arrangements before translation, in the course of translation and after translation, which gives a comparatively detailed depiction of the translation. Chapter2focuses on case study, discusses the problems appearing in the translation process and thinks about how to solve these problems, which is an important part of the thesis. Chapter3summarizes the translation practice and talks about the author’s gains from the translation process, which can be used to direct her future translation practice.
