But there are few systematic studies on him up to now.Jiang Wen’s movies have obvious personalized artistic characteristics of romantic, gorgeous, mysterious, plump, enthusiastic, complicated, forceful and unrestrained. His profound and powerful thinking and his ability to introspect and pierce the history and life distinguishes him from other contemporaneous directors.Focusing on JiangWen’s four movies, this thesis tries to analyse artistic characteristics of JiangWen in the aspects of characters, narrative features, themes and camera language by studying up texts and correlative theories including semeiology, narratology and depth psychology, and explores JiangWen’s status in Chinese film field and even his significance in world film history.The leading actor in JiangWen’s film plays the role of "mental biography" of JiangWen himself,the actress are usually the object of male desire, while some "Unusual" characters have complicated metaphors.His films have multiple narrations which are revolution narration in the "Little Red Guards" insight,love narration in multiple angles relation and initiation narration under national introspection.JiangWen never stop inquiring the worth of spiritual existence in his movies.He introspectes cognition of history,tastes and digestes the loneliness,and exceedes the death through his movies.The formation of JiangWen’s artistic characteristics has consanguineous relation with his unique camera language,idealistic image symbols,"flirtatious" montage and impassioned music.All these artistic characteristics make a unique JiangWen in Chinese and even world film field.
