English, as one Lingua Franca, plays a fundamental role in the age of information andinternationalization. With the development of times, we strongly need higher comprehensivequality of talent and also the foreign language ability. As to reach the above-mentioned demand,we must carry out the College English Curriculum Teaching (CECT) effectively.College English Curriculum (CEC) is the main territory for the promotion of collegeEnglish study. The quality of CEC teaching is being paid greater attention because of the greatdemand. It is the foreign language level of the talents. At present, the quality and effect of CECTis indisputably poor. The situation is more severe in South Xinjiang area. This area ischaracterized as "National Minority, Border Area and Poverty" and affected by the multi-culture.We need to deepen the CECT reform for meeting the demands: Internationalization and thestudents’ self development.CECT is not only affected by the general and universal factors, but also affected by thelocation factors in South Xinjiang. Due to the above reasons, the teaching is disturbed morestrongly than that in other places, as well as the difficulty of teaching. K College is the only oneNormal undergraduate higher institute in South Xinjiang. It will reveal the current situation andexisting problem in South Xinjiang College English Curriculum Teaching (SXCECT), because ittakes this college as a research example. The research is still in blank field currently. This papermay do a slight favor to the CECT in South Xinjiang. The thesis follows the ideas of theoreticalstudy, empirical analysis and countermeasure discussion. The research starts from the features ofSXCECT, combines the reforms of CECT tightly, analyze the basic questions and the underlyingreasons and finally reach the ideas and countermeasures for improving the Curriculum Teaching.The thesis analyzes the features and significance of the CECT and establishes the theoreticalfoundation from consulting to the following materials: theory and practice of LanguageCurriculum Teaching, both in China and abroad. The thesis identifies the matter and the relatingreason and establishes the factual foundation. The thesis finally put forward the reasonablethinking and feasible countermeasures to the problem from carrying out the theoretical researchand empirical research, as well as combining the personal experience and thinking.In Chapter One, the author gives a brief introduction to this thesis. It contains four parts asfollows: Background; the definition of core concepts and the foundation of related theory; themean and significance of this study; the idea and method of this study. In Chapter Two, theauthor carries out the situation survey and discovers the current problems. On the basis ofquestionnaire survey results, the author analyzes the situation of SXCECT from students,teachers and school management aspects. There are many current problems such as: the lack oflearning interest, the improvement of teachers’ quality, the enhancement of school management. In Chapter Three, the author discusses the related reasons of SXCECT from the followingaspects: the beliefs of language learning, the degree of teacher professionalization, thecurriculum planning. The author takes priority of the Fourth chapter in this thesis. In ChapterFour, the author puts forward the countermeasures of SXCECT from the following aspects: thetransformation of language learning beliefs, the transformation of education and teaching beliefs,and the promotion of teacher professionalization.
