Research On The Fourth Symphony By Wang Xilin

Wang Xilin with solid foundation and deep thoughts in art is one of Chinese composers. He organically fuses in modern music creation technique of the west, traditional symphony genre and elements of Chinese local opera together. This is the sinicization of western modern music techniques, which is a kind of artistic conception of creatively using various composing techniques of western modern music in the service of his own music works. The Fourth Symphony by Wang Xilin is one innovative masterpiece in the history of Chinese symphony. There is no title for The Fourth Symphony, but it works with title, mainly presenting his philosophy thoughts on the tragedy of life against historic and social reality. This paper attempts to analyze and illustrate a tragic narrative style based on its music ontology and music features of the composition.
