The Chinese translation materials are from A Concise History of Xinjiangpublished by Xinjiang People’s Press in2009and written by Tian Weijiang. Thewriter completed the Chinese-English translation independently. By searching theInternet and going to the library, the writer didn’t find any English translationversions about this book. The translation materials which are about10,000words arethe contents of Chapter3and Chapter5from A Concise History of Xinjiang. And thepractice report is written on the basis of translating the materials.The report consists of four parts. The first part briefly explains the reasons oftranslating Xinjiang history. The second part is an introduction of the main contentsof the translation, i.e. military and administrative jurisdiction over the westernregions exercised by the Tang Dynasty as well as the modern history of Xinjiang.The third part reports in detail the Chinese-English translation practice by discussingthe main difficulties with specific examples and offering translation methods. Thefourth part is the conclusion, which summarizes the experience and inspirationsgained by the writer in the translation practice. Among these four parts, the key goesto the third part.
