The translation material in this report is chosen from Factory Girls: FromVillage to City in a Changing China (Chapter1-2) written by Leslie T. Chang. Thewhole material contains about13,000words. This book mainly tells a story about thelives of two young women, who come from rural areas and work in factories inDongguan. This book describes the inner world of young women who work infactories. Through the description of the fate of the girls in the factories, the authorshows the complexity and diversity of China after the reform and opening up.The report is composed of four parts. The first part is introduction, which gives abrief account of the report. The second part is an introduction of the author, the textand the chosen part. The third part is translation analysis, which contains discussionsabout the application of translation theories used in the report and solutions to theproblems in the process of translation. The fourth part, the conclusion part, is aboutthe translator’s experience during this translation and a summary of this report.
