This translation project is one of the projects of “Translation and ResearchCentre of Contemporary Central Asian Literatures and Materials”-the key researchcentre of humanities and social science of Xinjiang Normal University. Thetranslation project is Kathleen Collins’s Clan Politics and Regime Transition inCentral Asia, in which I am responsible for the translation of chapter8、9and10.The book is a study of the role of clan networks in Central Asian from the earlytwentieth century through2004. Exploring the social, economic, and historical rootsof clans, and their political role and political transformation during Soviet andpost-Soviet periods.The main content of this report is divided into four parts: Part One is the projectdescription, including project background and significance. Part Two is theinformation about the source text, including the political background of the sourcetext, main content of the source text and the linguistic features of the source text. PartThree is about translation difficulties and methods, including examples of usingtranslation methods in the process of translation. Part Four is the conclusion of thetranslation project, including translation experience, lessons and knowledge gainedfrom the project.
