Quality management is an integral part of translation project management and itis of great value at a time when translation quality cannot be fully assured across thelanguage services in China due to the limited availability of translation qualitymanagement practices or systems and a lack of competent professional translators aswell. In this context, the present study, with the website of the Translators Associationof China (TAC) as a platform, did a market research to identify accessible translationquality management systems that have been implemented by three distinguishedtranslation service providers (TSPs), assesses them with four existing standardsregarding translation quality in the domain translation services, and further proposes aquality management model for translation projects and tests it with a real-worldproject, in an attempt to provide reference for the teaching and training of thecandidates of the Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI), a degree programestablished to train professional translators in order to satisfy the market demand andimprove translation quality in China. |
