On The Creation Of Tian Zhonshe’s Novels

Tian Zhonghe, with his special writing style, has added a bright color to the contemporary literary world in Henan, and expanded the lineup of Henan writers. His persistent pursuit of the literary dream and about20years of unsettled life in the lower class have contributed to his works. As early as in the middle school, he published a long fairy poem, Chinese Ixora, showing his talents in literature. The literary world began to pay attention to him after his novel The Fifth Month conquered all the judges and was awarded the outstanding short story prize in the eighth nationwide short story contest and he has been more diligent in writing ever since, exhibiting outstanding talents and charms.The paper explores the characteristics of Tian Zhonghe’s novel writing by close reading and based on previous studies. The paper is divided into three parts. The first part is introduction, which mainly discusses the significance and the current status of studies of Tian Zhonghe. The second part is the main body, which consists of three chapters. The first chapter mainly introduces Tian Zhonghe bumpy life experience and diverse pursuits of creation. Tian Zhonghe always stands in the position of "marginalization" to watch the folk and write the life of lower class. His ideas frequently change and have gradually transitioned from realism to modernism; the second chapter mainly analyzes the theme of Tian Zhonghe’s novels. Tian Zhonghe shuttles between two subjects, reality and history, and shows the living predicament of modern people by observing the life and exploring the mentality of Henan contemporary rural and urban people. Besides, the chapter explores complex human nature with the help of subjective history. The third chapter focuses on the artistic features of Tian Zhonghe’s novels. This part highlights the artistic features of Tian Zhonghe’s novels by expounding from three aspects, namely smartness of new realism, narrative chrematistics of neo-historical novel, and techniques of "stream of consciousness". The last part is conclusion. This part sorts out the studies of Tian Zhonghe and makes a summary, after which an evaluation is given to discuss Tian Zhonghe’s status in the history of Henan Literature and his contributions to Henan and Chinese contemporary literature.
