Itslinguistic features are as follows: there are many Chinese short sentences withoutobvious conjunctions; the sentences are vocative. Considering that there aredifferences between Chinese and English in syntax and culture, and that companyintroduction is an advertised text with clear purpose, vocative function of the targettext may not be achieved if the translator blindly seeks formal equivalence based ontraditional translation theories. Skopos theory, however, offers a new perspective tothe translation of texts typical of advertisement like company introduction. Skopostheory emphasizes the purpose of translation, proposing that the ends decide themeans, which serves well in the translation of company introduction.This translation report is composed of five parts.
