In2012, Northeast Normal University (NENU) offered MTI (Master of Translation andInterpreting) students internships in FAW-GM Light Duty Commercial Vehicle Co. Ltd.(FAW-GM) with the purpose of enhancing their practical skills. As a reflective research reportbased on the translation of “FAW-GM Changchun Plant Quality Audit Issues and Action”, acollection of meeting reports, this thesis introduces the translation process, analyzes thetranslation methods and strategies with specific examples, and summarizes the experience ofthe translation practice. This thesis consists of four parts. Part One is a brief introduction to the program and thesource text. The uniqueness of FAW-GM meeting reports lies chiefly in its specialization andobjectivity. The overview of the translation process follows in the second part, covering thedifficulties the writer encountered and the corresponding solutions. In the main body, analysisof examples is presented to demonstrate the strategies based on the three-principles, namely,“preciseness”,“smoothness” and “conciseness”. It pointes out that the translation ofnon-technical words (common words and jargons) should be stressed. Literal translation, freetranslation, omission, addition, subordinate structure and electronic tools are effectivestrategies contributing to the translation task completion and translation quality assessment. Asummary of experience is concluded in the last part, hoping that this thesis can provide somebeneficial reference for the practice of other MTI students to participate in this program.
