The literary criticism work"Notes On Classical Poetry Of OuBei",which waswritten by the scholar named ZhaoYi of the Qing Dynasty contains abundant andcharacteristic aesthetic thought. Because of that,"Notes On Classical Poetry OfOuBei"has become a work, through which we can study many famous poets’ poetriesfrom the flourishing Tang Dynasty to the Emperor Qianlong and JiaQing of the QingDynasty. As a classical literary theories monograph, this work also plays an importantpart in the Chinese classical history of literary critiques. It’s very important to discussthe abundant and characteristic aesthetic thought of the "Notes On Classical Poetry OfOuBei", with the help of which we can study the value of this work in the poetics, theliterature and the literary theory. There are five chapters in this paper to discuss theaesthetic thought of ZhaoYi’s"Notes On Classical Poetry Of OuBei".Chapter1researches the source of the aesthetic thought of the"Notes OnClassical Poetry Of OuBei",which contains two parts. The one is the knowledge,experience and the structure of the knowledge of ZhaoYi. The another is the wholeacademic atmosphere of the period from the emperor QianLong to JiaQing of the QingDynasty.Chapter2discusses the aesthetic ideal of the"Notes On Classical Poetry OfOuBei". For one thing, in ZhaoYi’s opinion, an outstanding poet should have the ’literary talent’, the’hard-working’and the’loyalism’. For another thing, he thoughtthat the poetries that are free and being like nature itself are the perfect ones.Chapter3researches the poetry criticizing’s aesthetical standard of the"Notes OnClassical Poetry Of OuBei". At the part of form, ZhaoYi thought the perfect poetryshould be accurate, concise and smooth and with wonderful rhythm. At the part ofcontent, he said that the perfect poetry should have abundant theme and aftertasteendless dense implication.Chapter4discusses the poetry criticizing’s aesthetical value. For one thing, ZhaoYithought that the innovation is very important. For another thing, ZhaoYi considered thesimple aesthetical function as the important value of the poetry.He initiated the poetry’s value of aesthetical function, which could aim at the real life and surpass the commoncustoms.Chapter5disscusses the value and the significance of the aesthetic thought of"Notes On Classical Poetry Of OuBei".It contains two parts about the advancement ofthe aesthetic thought of"Notes On Classical Poetry Of OuBei"during that periodand how the work has opened and enlightened the later ages.
