This article looks at the conditions of Chinese nations with tattoos from different regionsin Chinese history and explores the beginning of Chinese peoples with the tattoos,the historyof tattoos and the functions of tattoos,etc.The takeaway messages here are the changes of thecustom of getting tattoos,the features of the custom of getting tattoos,the reasons ofdisappearance and preservation.In the first three chapters,the author separately introduces the nations with the tattoos inthe history from East and North,West and South.Firstly,Archaeological data from differentregions are analysed and the conclusion is that tattoo is one of features including in thecustoms and cultures from different regions.Next,by combing historical materials of thepeoples with the tattoos in ancient Chinese texts from the Qin Dynasty to the Qing Dynastyand introducing separately the peoples with the tattoos from different regions after thematerials are organised, we deepen our understanding about the conditions of the nations withtattoos by discussing and analysing the ancient Chinese texts again.In the fourth chapter the author introduces the history of tattoo itself.At first thearchaeological data are analysed and a conclusion is drawed that the customs of tattoosexisted in the life of the Han nationality ancestors long ago.Then it is analyse d that thecustoms of tattoos for the Han itself ended.Afterwards the lingering phenomenon that the Hangot tattoos in ages past is discussed.In the fifth chapter the author analyses and organises the changing conditons of customswith tattoos from different regions on the basis of the details of four chapters and finds basicclues that customs with tattoos change from different regions and the general characters of theregion itself about customs of tattoos.And these characters are illustrated and analysed.Finally detailed discussion is given to the reasons why customs of tattoos are disappearingand should be preserved through two sections.
