The League of Nations Union in China was founded after World War I.It is a national diplomatic organization that supports the League of Nations and assists its development.It was established with a profound background of the times.As an organization relevant to the League of Nations,it adopts a governing system as its organizational system.Its leaders and members are primarily middle and high-level intellectuals who have diplomatic experience or studied abroad.During its nearly thirty years of existence,it has actively kept up with the world’s development and promoted the League of Nations and the changes in the world situation to the Chinese people,enabling more Chinese people to view the current situation from the perspective of the world.Externally,it strengthens communication and cooperation with international organizations and other similar groups and integrates with the international community proactively.It takes the League of Nations Union in China as the research object.It takes Qichao Liang,Xiling Xiong,and Jiahua Zhu’s tenures as a timeline to sort out the League of Nations Union in China’s understanding of the League of Nations and the world based on research on the different activities of the League of Nations Union in China at various stages.At the same time,it studies the interactive relationship between Chinese people and the international community from the 1920s to the 1940s.Between 1919 and 1925,under the leadership of Qichao Liang,the League of Nations Union in China affirmed the long-term significance of the existence of the League of Nations from a forward-looking perspective.the League of Nations Union in China’ member actively took advantage of their natural relationship with the League of Nations to help the Beijing government in its struggle for sovereignty by means of national diplomacy during the formation of the Versailles-Washington system.Between 1925 and 1931,the development of the League of Nations Union in China came to a halt due to the harsh domestic political environment.After the Mukden Incident,the League of Nations Union in China once again recognized the importance of international public opinion,and therefore gathered again to resume it.Under the leadership of its second president,Xiling Xiong,the League of Nations Union in China made many efforts during the Lytton fact-finding mission to China.Between 1936 and 1945,Jiahua Zhu became the third president,and under his leadership,the development of the organization’s affairs was fully revitalized,and the propaganda of foreign public opinion became more proactive.At the same time,against the background of the Anti-Japanese War,the League of Nations Union in China continued to speak out to the international community and to seek support from all sides of the world.In the continuous development of the League of Nations Union in China,its nature has gradually changed from a purely research-based civil diplomatic group to a semi-official group organization.Thus,in the process of studying,we must not only see its achievements but also see its limitations and also take into account the vast difficulties it faces in its development.At the same time,it is also necessary to actively pay attention to the formation of the League of Nations Union in China,which was vital sustenance for the Chinese people to achieve world harmony.
