On the Seventh National Art Exhibition in1989, the Painting works "Xiao Se Chu Dong" which created by the Shanxi painter Zhao Yi-chao and Zhang Mingtang won the Golden Award, this is the national highest award of Shanxi Province since1949. However, Shanxi have not obtain a glorious performance at a later time. Analysis and Summarize of the success of two artists, experience and teaching of the reality, all these will provide important inspiration and reference for future sustained and healthy development of the fine arts in Shanxi Province.Five parts analysis discussed. Chapter I mainly introduces lifetime of "Xiao Se Chu Dong" artists, Zhao Yi-chao and Zhang Mingtang, including growth and education environment; Chapter II by introduces the creation background of "Xiao Se Chu Dong" in the Fine Arts and Chinese painting ideological trend from1984to1989, also analyses golden award works of the fifth, sixth National Art Exhibition, and then study common points of award works;Chapter III analyses winning factors from two aspects, theme and techniques, through summarize the advantages of innovation of zhao and zhang’s chinese painting, namely solid skills in Western painting, creative pip chapped, creation of unique beauty of decoration, beauty of haziness;Chapter IV With the conclusion of "Ink As the times", and then summarizes and think about the development of Chinese Painting in Shanxi; Remaining articles analyzes and discusses the interaction between the National Art Exhibition and painters through the selection process of the Seventh National Art Exhibition and the selection system of National Art Exhibition relationship.
