After the foundation of New China, in addition to the constant development of Chinese oil painting, it also experiences the changes of the times. As the most authoritative and influential Art Exhibition, the National Art Exhibition has promoted the development of Chinese contemporary oil painting.The successful hosting of the Eleventh National Art Exhibition witnesses the relatively higher level of the Chinese oil painting in recent years. The oil painting exhibition collects many excellent works from all parts of China, and the overall level is noticeably higher than the former exhibitions. Moreover, the technique of expression tends to become more diverse, the selection of the themes becomes wider, and the painters'love for life and their pursuit in life have been reflected in their paintings. All these fully reveal the mental outlook and the humanistic connotation of the new era and the new look of Chinese oil painting in the new times. However, while affirming the achievements of the Eleventh National Art Exhibition, we should also ponder over the existing problems, such as lack of uniform judging criteria for the oil painting, lack of the awareness of innovation, the existence of the flippant psychology and so on. All these problems need to be explored and solved. During its development, the Chinese oil painting is trying to construct its own painting value system while benefiting from the essence of western painting. Currently Chinese oil painting is becoming international and reaching out to the world. Its development has also influenced the development of the western painting. In the future, they will develop together under the relationship of being mutually interactive.Based on the Eleventh National Art Exhibition, this thesis explores and probes into the current development situation of Chinese contemporary oil painting and the existing problems.This thesis can be divided into four chapters.In the first chapter, this thesis first expounds why the author selects such a theme, and then reviews the present research. On the basis of these, the research significance, methodology and its feasibility are systematically discussed.In the second chapter, this thesis focuses on the development history of Chinese contemporary oil painting. This chapter can be divided into two minor parts. In the first part, the general developing situation is introduced according to the three important phases, i.e. the "New Period" art era after the Cultural Revolution, the multi-polar developing art era, new century art era. The second part analyzes the relationship between the National Art Exhibition and the development of Chinese oil painting.In the third chapter, this thesis probes into the development characteristics and the current situation of Chinese oil painting on the basis of the Eleventh National Art Exhibition. It can also be divided into two minor parts. The first part discusses the development characteristics and the current situation of Chinese oil painting based on the Eleventh National Art Exhibition from the following four aspects, i.e. diversification of the technique of expression, stylizing of the painting, differentiation of the painting language and the pluralism of the contemporary oil painting. The second part analyzes the oil painting works on the basis of the classification of them. They can be concluded into five themes, i.e. theme about the mainstream values, theme about the real life, theme about the landscape, theme of the abstract expression, theme of the Chinese elements.In the fourth chapter, this thesis explores and discusses the existing problems and the prospects for the development of Chinese contemporary oil painting, based on the Eleventh National Art Exhibition. In this chapter, the author ponders deeply over the existing problems and analyzes them from the following aspects:predominance of the theme about the real life, undue dependence on the images, lack of uniform judging criteria, willful graft of the national characters, lack of integrate understanding about the theories of fine arts and practice, blind speculation about the National Art Exhibition modes, lack of the awareness of excellent works and the existence of the flippant psychology.In the conclusion part, the author summarizes the current development situation of Chinese contemporary oil painting in the light of the Eleventh National Art Exhibition. |
