In contemporary China, there are different and complex styles in Chinese. With the coming age of the Internet, Group Language whose characteristics are different from the traditional style has emerged. Although Group Language is the product of the Internet Age, it can trace to the Spring and Autumn Period in China. With the developing of the new media, Group Language produces a new language practice based on the variability of the Internet. Group Language is the discourse which reflects different objects or groups’different identities and values according to some form of structure or internal relations.Group Language could be divided into Interviewed-Group Language and Imaged-Group Language according to the characteristics of Group Language. Interviewed-Group Language, which is objectively true and non-fabricate, consists of interviews or the notes of the people’s words for record while Imaged-Group Language, which is the notes of the fictitious or imaged different groups for entertainment.Group Language is not simply a list of words. There are some new features which are different from the traditional style.(1) Polyphonic quality means there are various voices which are independent from each other, but also interdependent among the Group Language. Each discourse in the Group Language is not the repetition of the semantic, and also is not the join of the pragmatics. But some kinds of discourses exist equally by a certain relationship, like different voice parts in music.(2) Group Language is also a special dialogue. The dialogue is not only between the different view-holders, but also between the author and reader.(3) Continuity is another feature which is different from other styles. Compared to traditional style, Language Group is an open style. Its development could continue by the author or reader’s own creativity. In addition, continuity is the final reason that it has become popular in the Internet.(4) The independence of each discourse also results in instability. The order of each discourse is arbitrary, but the overall language has no effect. The popularity of the Group Language in the Internet, displays its powerful entertainment. Group Language gradually has been respected and become a kind of style. In the elements of Group Language, Topic is the first element and plays an important role of guidance. Speaker, Audience and Third-speaker, as the major roles in Group Language, form a special dialogue and represent the uniqueness of Group Language. About the cohesion of the Group Language, reproducibility refers to the content of Group Language, while enumeration and advancement refer to the structure of Group Language. The rhetoric often used by Group Language are contrast, parallelism, metaphor, parody etc. The rhetoric strengthens the comparison and entertainment of the Group Language.
