| Oral debate has a long history.With the frequent exchange of ideas in modern society,oral debate has become an important part of public life.Born in the context of the Internet,"Let’s Talk" inherits the diverse and inclusive style of the Internet platform,takes the youth group as the target audience,and transforms the traditional debate into a variety show.It has become the pioneer and representative case of the network language variety show with an alternative and sharp and way of discourse.Based on Halliday’s language meta-functional theory and supplemented with relevant theories of conversational analysis,pragmatics and argumentology,this paper conducts a textual discourse analysis of the network debate variety show "Let’s Talk".This paper is divided into four parts.The first part is an overview of language meta-function theory and its applicability.According to Halliday,all languages in social culture have ideational function function,interpersonal interaction function and textual construction function,which are inseparable and constitute semantic system together.Language is the material carrier of "Let’s Talk",and the discourse roles in the program carry out multi-level interpersonal interaction in turn-taking.Through meaning negotiation and idea conflict,the text construction of is both entertainment and social variety shows is completed.The second part firstly analyzes the idea construction function of "Let’s Talk".The discourse subjects in the program encode their own cultural experience through the conceptual function of language,construct multiple viewpoints around hot debate topics in real life,and promote the audience’s cognition of the subjective and objective world.The third part elaborates on the interpersonal interaction function and multi-level role relationship in "Let’s Talk".In the discourse scene of the program,the host,the tutor,the guest,the debater and so on choose the discourse consistent with their respective roles to carry out communication and interaction.The audience inside decides the narrative of the show as the arbiter of the outcome of the debate.The audience outside completed cross-screen "virtual interaction" through network media and bullet screen.The fourth part explores the rules of discourse construction in the program "Let’s Talk" at the two levels of whole text and local turn,analyzes its stylized conversation sequence and discourse rules.The host,as the axis of conversation organization,strictly controls the rhythm of conversation,and his master turn plays a key role in the cohesion of the program text.Finally,the reality of "indefinite suspension" after seven seasons of "Let’s Talk" matches the observation and conclusion of this paper:As the network representation of youth subculture,under the discipline and incorporation of "popularization" and "mainstreaming",its original vanguard and identity differentiation function can only be gradually weakened and even disappeared. |
