The China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) aims at promoting comprehensive economic cooperation and the construction of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area. It created a good platform for heads of state of China and ASEAN, business leaders, scholars and experts exchanging views and sharing wisdoms. With the intent to further the achievements, the CABIS Secretariat has compiled the collection of speeches of the CABIS. Because of the insufficient research in this translation field, the purpose of the report is to make preliminary of the CABIS translation so as to contribute to its development.Eugene A. Nida is renowned as one of the most influential theorists. His functional theory advocates "the most closely natural equivalence" which provides a beneficial way to instruct the translation of CABIS speeches. The functional theory is mainly by means of the following four aspects to instruct the translation:convey information, convey the spirit and style, conform to the standard and rules of target language, similar reaction of the audience.In terms of the stylistics, the CABIS speeches are a combination of written and oral language and written language occupies more. The translator adopted the translation strategy which is the literal translation playing the dominant role while the free translation playing the supplementary role. In terms of the lexicon translation, it combines formal and informal words with more formal form. In terms of the syntax translation, the text is made up of long sentences and short sentences so as to attain the ideal translation effect.
