This translating practice report is based on the first six chapters’ translation of TheAnorexia Workbook. Firstly, this report introduces the background, objective andmeaning of the project; secondly it introduces the background, content and the featureof the original book; thirdly, it introduces the preparing work of this translation, thetranslation theories to guide this translation, and analyses the difficult parts of thetranslation as well as the methods used to achieve the translation. The function of thescientific writing is to convey and spread scientific knowledge, and the core of thewriting is about objective reality and some objective theories. The language features ofthis type of writing are accurate, clear, strict, and to the point Based on the functionalequivalence, many translation methods are adopted to achieve the goal of theinformation equivalence between the original article and the translation. Both literaltranslation and free translation are used in this translation.
