In Today's world, with frequent communication, culture is increasingly diversified. In the meantime, the popularization of the Internet and social media has not only exerted a subtle influence on people's way of communication, but also has promoted the development of the stylistic forms, thus giving rise to a new genre different from the traditional ones. That is blog, which features flexible and simple sentence patterns and short writings. These features have certainly brought new challenges and experience to translation. This is a translation project report, and the original text is from the new book of blogs,No Time to Spare,Thinking about What Matters composed by the famous writer Ursula K.Le Guin. The book is divided into four parts, covering a variety of topics, from philosophy and politics to trivial things encountered in daily life.At present, this book has not been published in Chinese. The translator chose A Note at the Beginning and nine other blogs. The translation process consists of three stages:pre-translation,translation and post-translation.Firstly,the translator surveyed the background of the book, its contents and writing style. On the basis of Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory, the translator translated the selected blogs by using several translation strategies and techniques, such as literal translation and free translation. The case analysis summarized the difficulties during the translation, explained functional equivalence, and illustrated the application of it.Finally, the translator concluded the lessons gained through this translation project.Considering the characteristics of the original text,it is somewhat difficult to achieve the functional equivalence between the original text and translated text. When dealing with difficult words, the translator should pay attention to the context, and then figure out the accurate meaning of them in certain context;while handling with complex sentences, the translator should analyze the sentence structure, understand the logical relation between sentences, adjust the order of words or phrases properly, take advantages of the translation skills and thus complete the translated version which conforms to Chinese way of expression.Hence, this translation practice could be instructive to the translator's future translation.Starting from the original text, the report combines the Functional Equivalence Theory, analyzes in detail the cases in the process of translation practice, and discusses from various aspects, which would give certain significance to this kind of style of the translation study.
