This translation report, based on the translation practice of2012China-Malaysia Industrial Cooperation Summit of the7th Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Cooperation Forum, constitutes six chapters. Chapter1, Introduction to the Translation Project; Chapter2, Pre-translation Analysis and Preparation for Translation, including Pre-translation Analysis, Source-text Analysis and the Function of Target Text, Translation Method, The Positioning of the Target Language, and Preparation for Translation; Chapter3, Translation Schedule and Translation Process, including Translation Schedule, Plan for Revision, Usage of Translation Tools, Working Method of Translation, and Revision of Translation; Chapter4, Case Study of Translation; Chapter5, Translation Difficulty, mainly about the problems in the profile of the source text, and how they are processed; and Chapter6, Summary. In general, the objectives of this study include:1) On important occasions, interpreters on the spot can not afford to make any mistakes in interpreting. If the interpreter is able to employ translation strategies and techniques to prepare accordingly, it does good to the interpreter, bettering the preparation prior to the conference, mitigating the on-the-spot pressure of the interpreter, and playing a remedial role at critical time.2) Though the hegemony of the English language has reached out to each corner of the world, English has a big role to play in sending the voice of China to the outside world, strengthening and showing the soft power of China, and deepening the communication and understanding between China and the rest of the world, if China can make use of it. The audience attending conferences is limited, but the Internet users to which English can reach out is unlimited. In this case, excellent target texts is conducive to the world’s better understanding of China.Referencing Peter Newmark’s text function theory, the translator categorizes the source text as informative and vocative. Then, specific functions of the source text decide the translation method to be employed. Peter Newmark divides translation methods into semantic translation and communicative translation, and points out that communicative translation is suitable for informative text and vocative text, therefore, on a macro level, the translator adopts communicative translation. While using concrete translation techniques, the translator bears in mind one point, which is putting the readership and the addressee first. It is in this way that the translator introduces the translation strategies and methods in translating Chinese speech scripts.
