This thesis is a reflective research report on the basis of the translation of the textfrom a training program the author attended. As a student majored in Master of Translationand Interpretation (MTI), the author took part in the educational aid program organized byNortheast Normal University (NENU) in2012. The writer and at the same time the speakerof the class in the educational aid program is professor Xiong Mei, the headmaster ofPrimary School Attached to NENU.The source text the author chose to translate is a kind of typical task-based text, whichaltogether only took two days to translate the source text into the target one. The process oftranslation consists of the analysis of the source text, transfer from the source to targetlanguage, restructuring in the target language and testing of the translated text. Afterfinishing the translation, the author has found so many problems in translating from sourcelanguage-English into target language-Chinese, so the thesis will introduce the solution tothe problem from two aspects, at the lexical level and the syntactical level.The thesis will be divided into five parts. The first part of the report is the introductionof background information on the program the author took part in and the mainachievements of the headmaster-Professor Xiong Mei. And in second part there is a generaldescription of the source text from three aspects, which are respectively are the descriptionof the text content, the analysis of the source text from the lexical level and syntacticallevel. The third part of the report is about how to deal with the problems I met during thetranslation at lexical level. The fourth part of the report is to analyze the difficulties withexamples at syntactical level. The last part is the conclusion part, in which the authorreflects the difficulties and then summarizes the essential elements needed in thetranslation work, and finally finds out the shortcoming of the translation as well as the goalto be achieved in the future. |
