Research for the Greek economy in China, has entered a new stage since1949, andhas increased in prosperity in1980s. This article embarks from the different areas ofresearch, analysis and summary of different opinions between different researchers andresearch results, to get a comprehensive overview of the study of the ancient Greeceeconomic.About colonial movement, the main disagreement is the cause of the movement.Some scholars hold the opinion that the Greek population rapid growth is the main reasonof colonial movement; and the others hold a different point of view, they claim thepopulation pressure does not exceed the carrying capacity of the land, and colonialactivities stemmed in the demand of new land and wealth.About Economic characteristics, some scholars are inclined to think that thehandicraft industry and commerce although was developing rapidly, but did not gobeyond the scope of the agricultural economy, agriculture is still the most importantsector of the Greek economy. The others think that the handicraft industry and commerceplays a basic role for Greek society, is the fundamental driving force of socialdevelopment of Greece.The method of class analysis and viewpoints is challenged in the field of Greekdemocracy, more and more scholars believe that there is no independent and powerfulindustrial and commercial slaveholder class. Political rights and citizenship closely linkedto land, and citizens engaged in agriculture are the main participants of democracy.About economic thoughts, the main disagreement is the attitude to the commercialbusiness in ancient Greece. Some scholars believe that, in the opinion of the ancientGreeks, business is a supplement to the agricultural economy and is not as important asagriculture; Other scholars argue that there is no specific policy Restraining Commerce inthe Greek city-states except Sparta, and business is of great significance to the ancientGreeks.In addition to these important issues, scholars also made great achievements in newfields, such as ceramics, silver smelting industry, credit, etc., enriched the study ofancient Greek economic research.
