China Overview is a compulsory course for international students.Its purpose is mainly to enable international students to learn relevant Chinese culture and other relevant knowledge through the study of China Overview.It also helps international students to live in China and reduce cultural barriers during the interact with people when living in China.The profile of China Overview textbooks began in the 1980 s.There are currently more than a dozen Chinese textbooks that have been published and distributed.There are also many teaching materials that are introduced in China Overview profile,but whose titles have not yet been used in China Overview.The teaching materials are the norm and reference of teachers’ teaching,and also an important basis for the study of international students.The study of the compilation of teaching materials is an important part of the study of international Chinese teaching.The research object of this article is the China Overview teaching material.From the large textbooks with comparative circulation,China Overview edited by Shenglin Zhang,China Overview edited by Peng Guo,China Overview edited by Shuyu Qi,and Wang Shunhong’s editor are selected.The China Overview has comparatively analyzed four textbooks.The horizontal and vertical comparisons were made from the aspects of teaching materials setting,writing principles and styles,teaching content selection,question type design and layout design of different teaching materials.Through comparative analysis,it has been found that the teaching materials of various textbooks are differently set.The general teaching materials of China are for foreign students in China.However,some textbooks also include undergraduate students of Chinese as a foreign language in the setting of objects.Some of them indicate that they are trained to train teachers;due to the differences in the use of objects,there are differences in the content selection of different versions of China;in addition to the new words and comments in the text,some notes are added to the notes and some materials are not added;Practice design,some textbook exercises are relatively single,which only include "question and answer" "fill in the blank China Overview " and "choice" questions,but some questions are rich,which have writing,discussion,experimental investigations.After comparative analysis,this paper believes that several representative Chinese profile materials that have been published can adapt to the teaching needs of the course.However,there are still some problems,such that the teaching object is not clear and the pertinence is not strong;teaching materials have a wide range of teaching content and are lack of interest and practicality;the difficulty of the language used in the teaching materials is too great.In response to these problems,this paper proposes some suggestions for the compilation of teaching materials.It is suggested that the compilation of the course materials should first determine the target of use,start from pertinence,increase the practicality and interest of the content,increase communicative exercises and appropriately provide supporting materials and exercises answers,etc.
