| The translation report will analyze and summarize the translator’s problems from the aspect of the vocabularies and sentences in terms of foreignization and domestication under the guidance of functional equivalence theory. There are7chapters chosen to be translated from English to Chinese, totally11935words. In the process of preparing the translation, the translator read a lot of the articles and the original work, and then choosing the functional equivalence as the theoretical guidance and the domestication as the main strategy. To translate the Charlotte’s Web again is to use the theory to guide the translation practice and to present a better translation for the readers, thus improving the ability of translation. The translation report points out foreinization and domestication are not contradicting in themselves but they are complementary for each other. Translators can decide the translation strategy by analyzing the authors’intention, the purpose of translation, types of the text and the readership. In the process of translating, it is necessary for the translators to have a profound cultural consciousness which means translator should have a better understanding of the differences and similarities between different cultures. If the translators choose to use one of the translation method, the translation should be consistent with the translation strategy. Besides, to serve the purpose of domestication, amplification method and omission method play an important role in the process of translation. The adoption of these two methods enables the translation more fluent and accurate. The translation report will give advice of the application of amplification method and the omission method in translation and presents the rules of these two methods. |
