This text is a translation report. The text of the translation project is a text in the translation practice. The delegate of the translation task is Beijing Oriental History Culture Communication Center. The translation was published by National School of Administration Press in January,2013.The Ancien Regime and the French Revolution is a representative work of the famous French writer, Alexis de Tocqueville. It mainly discusses how corruption and unpopularity result in the final collapse of old French feudal system and why the result is beyond the revolutionary’s expectation. Meanwhile, it indicates the author’s profound thinking about the country’s fate and strong hatred towards dictatorship at that time. The present translator has translated Chapter Ⅶ, Chapter Ⅷ, Chapter IX and Chapter X, which mainly introduce the achievements of the French Revolution, the development of centralization and how it reserved the power in the old politic. Chapter VII has related to the other chapters closely. Feng Tang’s translation is suitable for academic research while this version which not only weakens the original text’s academic atmosphere, but also meets the readers’needs specific to today’s universal audience is fit for all the people to read. Based on this translation practice, the translator makes a summary and writes this translation report.This translation report focuses on the difficult points and the corresponding translation skills in the translation process. The main difficult points are the translation of terminology, the translation of people’s name, the translation of four-word phrase and the translation of long sentence. This translation report mainly consists of the following four parts:Firstly, the author gives us the translation background, aims and reasons of The Ancien Regime and the French Revolution. Secondly, the author states an introduction about the original text of The Ancien Regime and the French Revolution. Thirdly, the author introduces difficult points and translation skills and fourthly, the author gives the conclusion.
