The textbook of teaching Chinese is closely related to teachers and learners. It’s the most directly learning tool for the elementary learners of Chinese study. So the writing quality of textbooks will affect the whole teaching quality. It will absolutely significant to strengthening the construction of academic theory and teaching practice for the studying of textbooks and improving its writing quality. This paper will contrast the elementary comprehensive course of two different textbooks, which are Chinese Courses (revised edition) and Developing Chinese (second edition). By the comparison of the style, text, new words, grammatical points and exercises; I will analyze the similarities, differences and deficiencies of the two textbooks. And then I will propose the corresponding suggestions to promote the quality of Chinese textbooks. Hoping the suggestions of the Chinese textbooks for elementary level can help the writing of textbooks in the future. Except the introduction and epilogue of this paper, it includes five parts as follow:In the comparative analysis of the style, I will analyze the similarities and differences of the two sets of textbooks, and then I will propose some recommendations to the inadequacy.In the comparative analysis of the test, I will describe the status of the genre, theme and layout forms between two different textbooks. And then analyze the advantages and disadvantages between them.With regard to the new words, the paper compares two sets of textbooks by controlling the amount of the new words and the words’ explanation. The words’ explanation includes the characteristic and the English translation of a certain word. According to the analysis results, I will put forward the written advices to the new words and explain the rationality of the advices.With regard to the grammar points, I will analyze the differences between the two textbooks by the selection and arrangement of grammar points, and give the written advices of grammar points.In the comparative analyze of exercises, I will compare the quantity and the types of two sets of textbooks, and adopt some written suggestions.To sum up, this paper compares all the aspects of the two authoritative textbooks and concludes the advantages and disadvantages of them. And put forward the ideas about written suggestions will help the following textbooks. Then may be we can attract more foreigners to learn Chinese.
