The Bioactive Evalution And Product Development Of Freshwater Pearl From Suzhou

Pearl has a long history in Chinese medicine and certainly curative effect. China produces much more pearls every year, and has been a largest produced-country. But we are not as strong as thought, we need more deep-going study about pearl in order to find a new flaring idea for the reuse of pearl. Pearl contains calcium carbonates, keratins, amino acids, microelements, porphyrins and metalloporphyrins, vitamin B etc. Kaibao Bencao recorded that, preal has effects of relieving convulsion, calming the nerves, nourishing yin, improving eyesight, detoxifying and promoting granulation. This thesis has assessed the biological effects on freshwater pearl, and raised a new idea by general consideration.I. The evaluation of biological effects and the valid-part’s finding.1. We have concluded extract ways of heating and cooling methods by using calcium-content, protein-content, yield as standard.2. Then we investigated the sedative effect of pearl by different extractions, including heating, cooling, artificial gastric juice extracting and hol-hydrolysising. And the results showed that the heating extracting solution has a conspicuous sedative effect.3. By using Sephadex G-100, we separated the pearl heating extracting solution into three parts according to their molecular weight. We found the largest and smallest parts all have a conspicuous sedative effect.4. After an orthogonal test by using protein-content and weight of freeze-dry powder, we found an optimizate heating extracte method.5. We assessed the biological effect on freshwater pearls by using an animal model for anti-inflammatory, analgesia, anti-convulsion, yang-yin experiments. And an investigation into biochemical indicators for anti-oxidation and inhibitory activity to tyrosinase was also attempted. By the end, we found that pearl has a favourable effect, which includes nourishing yin, antioxidant and whitening effects.II. A new flaring idea to reuse the tearl and the design of product. Peri-menopausal period is an important life stage that every ripe women should pass through. Perimenopausal syndrome is the symptoms during the peri-menopausal period. Chinese traditional medical thinks that patients lost the balance between Yin and Yang, lost the accommodation about entrails, blood and Qi, so much more symptoms reasoned by organism entrails’ function chaos. Osteoporosis is the common symptom of perimenopausal syndrome, it relates to the run-off of calcium and the insufficiency of calcium uptake. There is much more calcium carbonate in pearl, so it could be a favourable calcium source. And its biological effects also tell us that pearl could be used to treat the perimenopausal syndrome, and this give us a new flaring ides to reuse the pearl.Eventually, according to the Chinese traditional medical Fang-ji theory, we put Eucommia Bark, Malaytea Scurfpea Fruit, Epimedium Herb, Pearl, Donkey-hide glue into a Fang, which is based on Qing E pill. And this Fang may deal with the perimenopausal period Yang-xu and Osteoporosis symptom. Meanwhile, we have made an initiatory research on the mainly medical material, then we also put out a program about the development of product.
