Background:Chronic functional constipation (CFC) is one of the most clinically common chronic digestive tract disease, which is the conduction disorders of the defecation. The defecation interval is prolonged characterized by more defecation effort, dry manure, poor stool and bowel obstruction which is mainly due to the improper daily life and emotional stress. Functional constipation disease is characterized by the functional bowel disorder without obvious organic disease. Epidemiological survey found that the incidence of functional constipation was about3%to17%, the ratio of male to female was1:3. the incidence of Chinese women functional constipation was about12.8%, and the prevalence of functional constipation increased significantly with the increased age. The recurrent attack and protraction of functional constipation seriously affected the health of people, whereas our doctors had to give them symptomatic treatment without other better therapy up to now. The therapy is ineffective with many side effects. For example, the long-time application of the catharsis could lead to laxatives dependent intractable constipation.
