Objective:The paper studies the correlation between the expression of vasoactine intrestinal peptide(VIP) and immune factors IL-12/IL-10(thl/th2) in non-infections or infectious patients with the diarrhea-type liver stagnation with spleen deficiency IBS, and discusses the possible functions and clinically significance of the important brain-gut peptides and pro-and anti-inflammatory factors in mechanism of the disease,methods:1. The68DIBS patients were divided into37NPI and31PI, and28healthy volunteers were chosen as the healthy control group.2. The peripheral blood of the patients selected was tested by radioimmunoassay, and the values of IL-12/IL-10were calculated. The Symptom Checklist for self-evaluation "SCL-90"was adopted to conduct mental examination for the patients and the difference among statistics was observed, recorded and compared.Results:1. The comparison of VIP level among each group: NPI:VIP is higher than that in control group(P<0.05). The difference is statistically significant. PI:VIP is higher than that in control group(P<0.05). The difference is statistically significant. NPI and PI:There is no significant difference between the two groups and no statistical significance in the difference (P>0.05).2. The comparison of IL-12level among each group: Slightly higher expression of serum IL-12in NPI than that in control group (P>0.05). The expression of IL-12in PI is significantly higher than that in control group and NPI.3. The comparison of IL-10level among each group: Lower expression of serum IL-10in NPI than that in control group(P<0.01). The difference is statistically significant. The expression of IL-10in PI is significantly lower than that in control group(P<0.01).The expression of IL-10in PI is a little lower than that in NPI(P>0.05).The difference is statistically significant.4. Results of IL-12/IL-10among every group Results of IL-12/IL-10in NPI are significantly higher than that in control group and significantly lower than the results in PI(P<0.01).(The trend towards thl)5.(1)Total average score:The result of the control group is (1.4±0.30)and is near the norm of the marks of adults in China. The values among patients are higher than norm in China and that in control group. NPI (1.95±0.56)分、PI (2.33±0.75). The symptoms between mild and moderate level are up to62.2%in NPI and54.8%in PI.(2) Factor score:The factor scores among patients in NPI are higher than norm in China except antagonism and intolerance. The differences are significant between NPI and control group. The factor scores among patients in PI are higher than norm in China and that in control group and the average scores of somatic symptom, obsession, anxiety and psychoticism symptoms are higher than2and the symptoms are defined as moderate level. Conclusion:1. NPIo PI:Increased VIP could be the result of stressed colonic contraction caused by various kinds of acute and chronic stress (liver stagnation) and the diarrhea then is caused by increased various fluid in intestinal tract.2. The chronic spleen deficiency is caused by imbalance in the immune response that is the performance of low immune function among patients in the two groups(NPI。 PI). Therefore the functional bowel symptoms like abdominal pain and diarrhea can easily occur.3. Some emotional problems among the patients are related to liver stagnation with spleen deficiency. Various psychological functions to intestinal tract can be influenced by neurotransmitters in the nerve-endocrine-immune network and inflammatory factors. It is indicated that important reason of the disease is the infected gastrointestinal tract and some relations between brain-gut axis adjustment and intestinal symptoms.
