Objective: We study Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) infection rate of both outpatients and hospitalized patients in Binhu District, Wuxi City. We hope to provide new data for prevention and treatment of H.pylori. We also analyse the positive rate or H.pylori in common upper gastric diseases. Methods: We choice1012patients with digestive track symptoms by using electrical gastroscopies and14C Urea breath test. And the results were analyzed by sex, age group and types of diseases.Results:1. There are528patients with positive infection and the infection rate is52.17%. The infection rates are53.57%and50.63%in males and females respectively.2. The infection rate increased from44.87%to67.65%in patients in five different age groups of age16-25, age26-35, age36-45, age46-55and age56-65.3. There was a high infection rate of H.pylori in common gastrointestinal diseases including different types of gastric ulcers and residual gastric ulcers with an infection rate of70%. And patients with complex ulcer have a highest infection rate of91.67%. The infection rate of H.pylori is highest in patients older than age56with chronic atrophic gastritis with an highest infection rate of78.1%. In patients with bile reflux gastritis, the highest infection rate is43.62%in age younger than25. The infection of H.pylori in patients with gastric ulcers increased with the age. Conclusions:1. There is no difference of H.pylori infection rate between males and females.2. The infection rate of H.pylori increased with the age suggesting that it might be related to changes of spectrum of diseases in different age groups.3. There was a highest infection rate of H.pylori in patients with gastric ulcers (mainly in complex ulcer and multiple ulcers). In contrast, patients with chronic atrophic gastritis had a lowest infection...
